09:29 am - Maelstrom A very good event and I think I have finally found my feet with this character.
Hot: The Flotilla in all the varieties
Borrowing money from everyone and wasting it frivolously, borrowing some more and then people realising just how little chance they had of seeing it again. The Sky Ponies overall with particular mention of Kali-Sana and Edvardo. Watching justice done and having a good old rant about the perceived bias. Redbeard with his songs of shame as punishments for idiocy. The Gitan, barking barking mad. Discussions of Amun Sa culture and the arguments about enlightened laws versus provincial yokel customs. Naughty Pigskins making game. My hats off you all for being some of the last visible and out there firebrands.
Not: Nothing much really except the eye infection I appear to have taken away.

08:13 am - Meh. Meme.
Ask me anything, anything, about the character that I play and I will answer honestly (unless of course doing so would reveal the secrets of another character, spoil a secret about my character, the information is not something that my character would reveal or if the information could not be found out IC somehow, in which case I'll simply refuse to answer but won't lie). You can ask OC questions or IC questions (for purpuses of FOIP consider any IC questions answered to be IC knowledge your character has gained) and can ask as many questions as you want to.
Please do specify which character as I still have a couple currently alive.

11:49 am - Brighton Below In essence it was great. A small system but quality throughout.
I was in a mob with Coops, Helly, Conrad and Eleanor as Flatliners. An undead street gang in essence. What made it quite so much fun is the neat concepts people brought to the group, we shall be going again and the next one is hopefully in december or so the organisers reckoned. #
There is also a sister system setting up, Nottingham Below. Same rules, which are very easy to use and intuitive. Go on play it and form a Flatliners chapter... undead stret gangs for the win..

12:30 pm - Maelstrom Who I did on my Holidays...
It has taken me a lot longer to write this report than some of my partners in crime. I think as much as anything else it has been because I have struggled to identify exactly what made it such a good event for me.
On reflection I think what really made this rock for me besides my group as a whole, was the widening perception of us as we wanted to be seen. People now understand that while we smile, are pleasant and polite, buy rounds and are even good company outside of the office, if you get in our way in the course of our duties we will hack you down. On the opposite side we are as good as our word and try to avoid pointless deaths. In short we have not been trying to portray a total lack of morality, just that the morality is slightly skewed. I think it is working, I watched people calculating if they were on our list.
The reason this perception and actuality is so important to me is because it would be easy for a group as combat capable as ours to be almost cartoon villains, smashing things and killing characters just because we can. While that is a valid role playing position to take, on balance I think it would be kinda dull. Part of what makes Maelstrom so great for me is excellent characterisation and the amazing feel of some groups and how they express their culture and allegiance, it just seems those that stick to their guns the most are often those we end up butting heads with and removing. The church of the Huntress and the Merisusi are my most recent example. I can't express how much they added to our game over the last few events, adversity helps to form you as a character and as a group and having to watch our backs instead of swagger around really changed us. No doubt we will get ground under at some point and I only hope that until then we enhance the system by our actions, giving a sense of uncertainty and a requirement for a militaries and wariness, rather than providing the the daily mosh like LT et al Monsters.
The High points for me
Watching the relief on the faces of the Millense when they realised I was leading the mob at their gate.
The Faustian bargain, watching (FOIP) principles almost visibly at war with the prize I was holding out to them and then seeing that decision as when they set everything aside but power.
Fra Pierre Cardini: I don't believe I have ever seen a characterisation that brought the Borgia's so forcibly to mind.
Being questioned as to the truth of me being the real Archon of House Bakhana.
The Celestial Gala: The food was great, the entertainments left me speechless and the company was a collection of some of my favourite characters in the system.

11:36 pm I want a kimono etc and in time for Maelstrom no less. No Olrich is not dead nor likely to be but I wanted to turn up dressed in native style for the Celestial Gala. Since after all we have been occupying a large chunk of Kamakura for a year and a half I thought it amusing and fitting.
Any suggestions folks?

10:24 am - News Well I haven't posted in a while so I thought it time for a brief update.
I'm alive and well though my back is a tad sore, the results of being in a train rolling down an embankment to a sudden stop. I'm still commuting to Glasgow though with a certain wariness. Apart from that life is pretty good indeed.
Maelstrom will be here soon and I'm hugely looking forward to it. We have enemies of our own and they have plans and everything. Up until now we have tended to be left to do as we please and have taken advantage opf that to do horrible things to those that offend or annoy. People standing up to us is a rare thing and one we fully enjoy. Work has been proceeding on back up concept that would suit for the fifty or so of us if we get all killed.

09:29 am - Maelstrom We went, We saw, We got paid to kill.
This weekend we lived down to our reputation, we got paid lots of money to kill people, more protection money came rolling in so that in future we don't kill certain people and we got enquiries about how much it costs to be added to our community watch scheme.
Highights The laws were great, contrary to my expectations I might add. The Artemans did a fine job as sheriffs and as usual I find myself regretting not getting over there to visit more often. Katie Bacon was genuinely scary as her blood splattered insane eidolon when she burst into the brothel... why does the dancing girl have daggers? Hey wait a minute thats no dancing girl. Almost without fail anyone we killed was a good sport about it, though there seemed to be some confusion regarding a few people who snatched loot from the Greenfield Shores camp and then ran into the OOC area with it. People were set right that they were nothing to do with us.
Lowlights. The heat, the terrible burning heat and needing to wear armour to deal with it. The tent we were given was shit, It was nice of PD to provide it don't get me wrong but prior notice would have ensured we just hired one from past tents and saved ourselves a huge ammount of problems.

08:46 am - Maelstrom It was great.... The weather was the only black spot on an otherwise good event. Too much sun is not fun when you are playing a stuffy overdressed accountant. The group remains really driven, really effective and great to be a member of, the continued good humour OOC in the face of adversity is certainly worth mentioning.
We started out with four people a year ago, struggling with money and to build a credible reputation for both ourselves and to rebuild that of House Bakhana. These days it gets assumed we killed people because we were in competition with them and no one saw who did it. We have more money and assets than I know what to do with. A pool of around 40 characters to draw from each event. A good strong reputation of being trustworthy in our dealings and as vicious as a Rabid Rottweiler if given cause.
I think now I'll take a little more time at the events to smell the roses instead of running from meeting to meeting.

10:53 am Robert Graves (1895–1985). Fairies and Fusiliers. 1918. 3. To Lucasta on Going to the War—for the Fourth Time IT doesn’t matter what’s the cause, What wrong they say we’re righting, A curse for treaties, bonds and laws, When we’re to do the fighting! And since we lads are proud and true, What else remains to do? Lucasta, when to France your man Returns his fourth time, hating war, Yet laughs as calmly as he can And flings an oath, but says no more, That is not courage, that’s not fear— Lucasta he’s a Fusilier, And his pride sends him here. Let statesmen bluster, bark and bray, And so decide who started This bloody war, and who’s to pay, But he must be stout-hearted, Must sit and stake with quiet breath, Playing at cards with Death. Don’t plume yourself he fights for you; It is no courage, love, or hate, But let us do the things we do; It’s pride that makes the heart be great; It is not anger, no, nor fear— Lucasta he’s a Fusilier, And his pride keeps him here.
And that is the only truth of what makes soldiers what they are

02:11 pm I wish to attend this event, it seems interesting and close to Manchester. Barneswood is between Manc and leek which is effectively spitting distance.
I'm tempted by either a Shlocky horror writer, Paramedic or some kind of salesman type.

09:46 am Maelstrom
Once again it was great, this has been the best yet in fact. A lot of factors contribute to this but the high points I'll pick out. A much bigger group and looking good for around 18 or so people at the next event, Without exception the new members were fantastic, a pleasure to roleplay with and the only one I wanted to strangle at any point was my own dear ooc beloved. She wants a Blunderbuss i'm told...about once every five minutes:P, My sympathies to Russ I now feel you pain, she has too many of my own traits when it comes to things that go bang. We have now established ourselves enough to be constantly busy and well respected as providing a quality death and Mayhem service, this leads to so much more plot ins and being consulted as to our opinions on things. It also means we need a new data recording system to keep track of contractual offers.
The New Archons group were pretty good once we got over the fact we nearly hacked them all apart, In all honesty I think they will add to our game and it saves me attending all the dull meetings :) So Welcome to the Barracai.
Scourging the wasps was fun in the same way any combat against good sports you know well is fun, I feel dissapointed that some spineless bottlers have used this as an excuse to put the boot in ooc though and I hope that the Hive of the Wasp continue as they are. We as a group and as a system need proactive groups that do things, without them it becomes more of the Flambard colonies interminable tea parties. Personally I hope they come back hunting for revenge.

12:37 pm This really is the season for illness and worry.
I was told late last night that my brother had to be taken into hospital because of a seizure, cause as yet unknown. A lump on his neck just at the base of his spine has been discovered after he complained of some discomfort. It is possible that he banged his neck during the seizure and it is simply the result of swelling but for now we simply don't know.
So far they have ruled out Epilepsy and Diabetes as possible causes of the seizure. For now it's just a question of waiting.

I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me. 5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you. 6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of. 7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you. 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written
